What are the fabric care instructions for fabrics?
For the best care of our stretch fabrics, we recommend the following guidelines to ensure they maintain their shape and flexibility:
- Spandex should ideally be hand-washed to preserve its elasticity.
- When washing spandex, avoid twisting or wringing it. Gently press the fabric instead and ensure it is thoroughly rinsed in cold water.
- Air drying is the way to dry spandex. Lay it flat to air dry, ensuring it retains its original shape.
- Ironing or dry cleaning of spandex fabrics is not recommended, as these processes can harm the material.
- If you need to use bleach on spandex, ensure it is color-safe bleach to prevent damage.
- For foiled fabrics, avoid exposure to heat to prevent the foil from deteriorating.
Please adhere to these care instructions to extend the life and appearance of your fabrics. If you have any specific care inquiries or need further assistance, contact your fabric specialist or call us at 844.827.4206.

Fabric Printing
What’s the difference between heat sublimation printing and wet printing?
Wet Printing: during the wet printing process, dye is applied directly to the fabric. This is typically done with an acid dye on a nylon-based fabric. Usually, this method can achieve brighter colors because of the nylon in the base cloth. The dye penetrates through the fabric during the wet print process, making it easy to identify a wet print by looking at the back of the fabric. You can see the dye/wet print through the back of the fabric. Wet printing requires larger minimum orders and has moved out of favor within the industry due to environmental concerns.
Heat Sublimation Printing: During heat transfer, or sublimation printing, a design is transferred from paper to fabric using heat and pressure for a specific amount of time, called dwell time. With sublimation printing, the solid dye is turned into a gas form when heated. This is often done on fabrics containing polyester because it can withstand higher temperatures during the sublimation or heat transfer process. You will also be pleased to learn that the images on a sublimation print are unlikely to fade on activewear stretch fabrics.
Digital Ink Direct Printing: Digital ink direct printing, often utilized for nylon and other stretch knit fabrics, operates through an innovative technique that allows designs to be printed directly onto the material. This process employs specialized inkjet technology, where tiny ink droplets are precisely ejected from print heads to form detailed images or patterns directly on the fabric surface. Unlike heat transfer or sublimation printing, direct printing doesn’t require an intermediate paper medium, thereby streamlining the production process. This method is particularly suitable for stretch knits, including nylon, due to its ability to accommodate the fabric’s elasticity without compromising the integrity of the print. Moreover, the inks used in digital direct printing are formulated to ensure excellent adherence and durability on synthetic fibers, making them ideal for applications in swimwear, activewear, and other performance-oriented garments. The result is a vibrant, high-resolution print with a soft hand feel, enhancing the fabric’s aesthetic appeal and functionality.
What are the benefits of digital direct printing?
Digital direct printing stands out for its eco-friendliness and efficiency, offering significant advantages:
- It’s greener, reducing ink waste significantly compared to traditional methods.
- You’ll notice richer colors, surpassing those achieved with heat sublimation.
- It welcomes smaller orders with a lower minimum quantity than traditional wet printing.
- It’s versatile, allowing for printing directly on nylon fabrics without compromising quality.
- Plus, you’ll save on additional costs; no screen engraving fees are involved.
This innovative approach caters to your creative needs and aligns with environmental and budget-friendly practices.

Please contact us to order sample yardage which is available in 1-yard increments.
